Friends of the Israel Defense Forces
Solidarity Mission to Israel
The FIDF Solidarity Mission is the best way to get in touch with Israel and its soldiers. The mission visits military bases and meets with the troops, giving you an up close experience of what it means to be an Israeli soldier. The military portion is enhanced by tours of the breathtaking splendor of Israel 's historical sites and landscapes. One week delivers an unforgettable experience of bonding with the IDF and the Israeli people.
Participants in the mission meet Israeli IDF commanders and soldiers. From the complex situation in Gaza to the daily toil at the Lebanese border, from the elite infantry units to the advanced Air Force and Navy, they see how soldiers from all walks of life participate in the defense of Israel.
In addition to the military tour, the mission meets with key officials in Israel , such as ministers, parliament members and justices. And they do all of this while touring the breathtaking sights of Israel, from the lush Golan Heights to the calm desert, from the Old City of Jerusalem to the old port city of Jaffa.
The FIDF mission serves a tri-fold purpose. It exposes American Jews to Israel and the IDF, and in turn shows the young soldiers the support they have abroad. But not less significant is bringing a large group of American tourists to Israel 's tourism industry. The mission stays at the best Israeli hotels, dines nightly in its restaurants, and explores Israel 's diverse tourist activities. It goes to places like the Western Wall, the majestic Bahai gardens in Haifa , the ancient port of Caesarea , the Palmach museum, the wineries of Zikhron Yaakov and much more. It helps boost Israel 's economy by taking tourists around to sites they might not explore on their own, and give them the sense that there is still more to see and do on future visits.
