The DIGNITY Program distributes critical aid that enables these deserving young soldiers to have food in their plates, pay their bills, and help keep their families afloat.

The Friends of the IDF provides millions of dollars annually in special grants, food allowances and holiday-gift vouchers for soldiers-in-need and their families. Nearly 14,000 individuals as "soldiers in financial distress" that require financial support, including 5,500 lone soldiers*, 5,000 soldiers in severe financial distress and 3,500 soldiers entitled to "Family Welfare Payment". These soldiers are constantly worried about their families and feel the need to be home with them.

Our rich heritage has taught us that: 'Kol Yisrael arevim zela'ze' - the people of Israel are responsible for one another. The DIGNITY Program reflects this crucial partnership.

Together with full cooperation from the Association for the Wellbeing of Israel's Soldiers (AWIS), the FIDF designed a process that effectively and efficiently disburses funds raised for soldiers in dire need. The Social Services identifies soldiers in need in each unit, then the FIDF decides where to transfer the resources available to help the soldiers in need.

The Support Granted

Special Grants
are money grants to soldiers in acute situations that require immediate intervention. The Special Grants are in the amount of $275- $550 per year of service (depending on the type of service) and are granted on an "ad-hoc" basis, after conducting financial inquiries and home visits.

Special Aid -"The Fund for Soldiers in Need and their Families"
The fund grants "non-monetary" support. It offers a variety of basic and essential furniture, essential electrical appliances and the like. It also provides financial support for underprivileged families of injured soldiers, who are constantly at their child's bed and therefore are enable to work.

Holiday Gift Vouchers- will be granted to non-immigrant lone soldiers, combat and semi combat soldiers whose families receive "Family Welfare Payment" to allow them proper celebration of festive holidays . The vouchers are distributed twice a year, at Rosh Hashanah and at Passover, and are in the total amount of $120 (2 X $60).

Food Vouchers - distributed to the soldiers who suffer from extreme economic hardship but don't qualify in either of the other categories.

The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews has generously contributed $1 million for the DIGNITY Program.
