The Friends of the IDF provides yearly support for summer camps for the widows and orphans of the IDF fallen soldiers. Unfortunately, every year more Israeli's join this family of grief. Our goal is to provide each one with the opportunity to unwind and relax with those who share their sorrow. Every year AWIS and the FIDF send three groups of 420 to 520 guests to the Olga recreation center "Al Ayam" (on the sea) in 3 cycles: Widows alone, Widows and orphans above 12-years-old and Widows and younger orphans . They take part of recreational activities such as workshops, shows, excursions and more.
Activities for the Widows:
Creative workshops (Jewelry, watches and more)
Lectures on nutrition, communications, theater .
Entertainment by popular Israeli artists
Sports activities (Yoga, Aerobics, Pilates)
Computers workshops including individual training
Visit of the commanders of the fallen soldiers
Widows and Orphans:
> The organizers are 40 soldiers who are trained to work with children
> There is a kindergarten available
> Separate activities for the mothers and the children allowing the mothers an easy and stress-free vacation
> Shows, pool games and excursions for the children
In 2004, we have helped 3,446 widows and 290 orphans and provided each one of them with the opportunity to unwind and relax with those who share their sorrow.
Additionally, the FIDF sponsored Summer Camps in the United States for children of fallen IDF soldiers In 2004, the FIDF provided 39 children who reached the bar/bat-mitzvah age 2 weeks in the United States.
