Friends of the IDF (FIDF) provides essential aid that enables deserving young soldiers and their families who are in financial distress to live in DIGNITY. Today, about 19,000 soldiers are in need of financial support, including 5,000 defined as Lone Soldiers, with no immediate family in Israel. FIDF provides millions of dollars every year for these soldiers and their families. The funds, used for special aid, special grants, food allowances, and holiday gift vouchers, help lift their spirits, showing them that they are not alone.
The DIGNITY Program was launched in 2003. The difficult economic situation in Israel, coupled with the blessed immigration to Israel during the past 20 years, has resulted in a growing need for financial support. Soldiers in-need encounter economic difficulties, not only in supporting themselves, but also in supporting their families back home. While on their military base, they are taken care of by the IDF. However, when the soldiers come home for a short break, they either return to an empty house or become a financial burden on their families.
By providing necessary financial aid, FIDF aims to make a difference in the lives of these soldiers and help create a better future for them and their families.

Special Aid
The fund for soldiers in-need and their families provides non-monetary support. It offers a variety of basic and essential furniture, electrical appliances, and other living necessities.
Special Grants
Monetary assistance to soldiers in severe financial difficulties that require immediate intervention. The Special Grants are in the amount of $275- $550 per year of service and are granted on an “ad-hoc” basis, after conducting financial inquiries and home visits.
Holiday Gift Vouchers
Distributed twice a year, for Rosh Hashanah and Passover, for a total amount of $110 (2 X $55).
Food Vouchers
At the discretion of the commanders, these are distributed to soldiers who suffer from economic hardships but do not qualify in the other categories.
